Asus ROG Gaming Smartphone coming to India on Nov 29

Asus will be releasing it's ROG Gaming smartphone in India on 29th November exclusively through Flipkart, India's e-commerce giant. Gaming Smartphones are becoming a thing today and they generally tend to focus on performance. Asus isn't the first one to come up with a phone that focuses solely on Gaming, many other OEMs like Xiaomi and Razer have released a game-centric device.

The ROG ( Republic of Gamers ) phone from Asus packs in all the latest flagship hardware one can think of. It also comes packed with a ton of accessories which can make your Gaming experience much better. We have broken the article into segments so that it's easy for you to understand.

Design & Build

Talking about the design and the build quality, Asus ROG follows its desktop & laptop counterparts with sharp cutouts, Glowing LED lights and the ROG Logo on the back. The Logo does light up and can be further customized via the inbuilt software. The back portion is covered with a full glass panel. Asus has failed to mention whether it's a gorilla glass or some genetic off the shelf glass. The frame is made of aluminium. There's also a dedicated fingerprint sensor with the Same ROG cutout style we have seen earlier on other ASUS ROG products.

The front of the device is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and there are dedicated cutouts for the front firing stereo speakers. There's no notch on the display and the loudspeaker cutout are painted with reddish gold colour. The edges are curved for a much firm grip. On the right side of the device, we have power buttons along with Volume rockers. There are two USB Type C ports as well for attaching various accessories that the company has made solely for the device. The Charging port is at the bottom which is also a USB Type C port.

 

Under the Hood

 

Under the hood, the ROG packs a powerful top of the line hardware like Qualcomm Snapdragon SD845 and 8 gigabytes of RAM. Users can choose from 128GB/512GB of Flash Storage options. we have listed the complete technical specifications below. The device incorporates the vapor cooling technology which prevents the device from Overheating during intensive gaming sessions.

Software

 

The smartphone comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with ROG Gaming X UI running on top. There's also a version of the Asus ROG gaming centre on the device which gives information about the CPU and GPU processor speeds. The Android isn't stock but Asus has managed to add its own little features while keeping the core of the device software intact. The dedicated app for your logo led lets you change the primary colour or you can switch between different lighting modes.

There has been no official statement from Asus as to when the device will get an official Android 9.0 Pie update but you can expect it to drop in Q1 of 2019.

Pricing and Availability

We have no official word from Asus regarding the Indian Pricing of the device but you can expect it to be around ₹59,990 for the base variant of the device. The official release date of the device has been set to November 29th and will be exclusively available via Flipkart.
