Apple Emerges as Top Smartphone Manufacturer, Xiaomi Storms back into Top 5 List!
Research Firm IDC released it's survey data for 4th Quarter of 2017 for Global smartphone shipments.
The Global Smartphone shipments for 2017 are clocked at 403.5 million which a 6.3% decrease YoY.
The survey says that in the fourth quarter Apple, Samsung Huawei, Xiaomi, and OPPO emerged as the top 5 smartphone manufacturers in terms of market shares.
Apple emerged as top manufacturer with 77.3 million shipments largely fueled by its latest flagships iPhone X and iPhone 8, 8Plus models. Samsung follows Apple closely with 74.1 million shipments. Next three spots are occupied by the Chinese giants Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo.
Interestingly, while all the top 5 manufactures seen a reduction in their shipments YoY, Xiaomi seen a sharp increase in its shipments. Thanks to the huge success of its models in India and other emerging markets. With this Xiaomi displace Oppo to become top 4 smartphone manufacturer.
With the boost, it received in 2017 Xiaomi will continue to ramp up its sales and off-late it expanded into several countries with its Mi A1 powered by Google's Android One program.
