Of late the e-Commerce giant Amazon is pushing its Virtual Assistant Alexa aggressively to new platforms and devices. We have seen this with Alexa jumping onto Windows with dedicated devices.

Until April of this year, Amazon's Alexa powered speakers are only smart speakers available in India. But, it changed after Google jumped into the subcontinent with its offerings of Google Home and Google Home Mini.

To face the competition, Amazon first offered a lucrative deal if you buy two units of the Alexa-powered device. Customers who purchase two Echo smart speakers in one go will receive an additional Rs. 1,000 off on their final bill at checkout.

Now, Amazon has brought down the price of price of the entry-level Echo Dot smart speaker by Rs. 400, a 9% drop, and it is now available at a just Rs 4,099. At this price, Amazon placed it directly against Google Home Mini which is currently available on Flipkart.

The bigger sibling of Echo Dot, larger Echo has also seen a price drop of 10% bringing its price down by Rs. 1,000. The Echo smart speaker is now listed for Rs 8,999 on Amazon. The discount is currently applicable on black and grey variants as the white option is unavailable right now.

At this price, it goes head on head with Google Home regarding pricing.

The other Echo powered devices Echo Plus, and Screen equipped Echo Spot have seen no price cuts and are available at Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 12,999 respectively.

Do You Think That This Aggressive Price Drops and Offers will Help Amazon to Strengthen its Position in the Smart Speakers Sector in India?
