UFED Premium - the new cracker is in town!

We hear many cases in our day to day lives about many criminals and terrorists using secure mobiles for communication, especially iPhones, and then their data isn't available to the law enforcers because it is a violation to their privacy. Well, no one will ever have to hear about that again. Because an Israeli company just came up with what the cops really want, a mobile security cracker!

The Israeli forensic firm and law enforcement contractor Cellebrite has announced an upgrade to its product, the Universal Forensic Extraction Device, i.e. the UFED Premium. The company says that its cracking tool can unlock any iOS or Android devices.

5G Explained Here

On its Twitter page, the company said, "Cellebrite is proud to introduce #UFED Premium! An exclusive solution for law enforcement to unlock and extract data from all iOS and high-end Android devices." Giving further details, it said that it can extract data from any device right from iOS 7 to the latest iOS 12.3 and also other high-end Android smartphones from Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.

Competition

This move actually comes after a competitor, Grayshift, who's been selling the GrayKey tool lagged behind the iPhone cracking. GrayKey is the most preferred tool by US law enforcers but recently, Apple upgraded its security in iOS 12.3 and Grayshift hasn't reached there yet. Instead, Cellebrite is hoping to eat that bite as it has got itself a lead in the competition.

One more thing about this tool is that it's on-premise. Which means the law enforcers and police officers would have the tool all by themselves to use after buying it. But, as good as it seems to the law enforcers, it is also a threat if it falls in the wrong hands.

So, what do you think about this tool? Can it bring the change in the mobile manufacturers and criminal activities that we need today? Let us know in the comments.
