Nokia Joins The Android One Program with a Huge Troop!

At the ongoing MWC 2018, HMD Global showcased new devices and it announced almost all its mobile devices is joining Android One program except Nokia 1 and 2.

In case you don’t know, Android One is a stock version of the Android operating system which is directly supported by Google with guaranteed security and software updates for a long term.

Android One devices come with a very few pre-installed thus occupying less storage and provides the best security as they receive monthly security patches up to three years from the launch and they even receive them earlier than other devices.

The Nokia devices that officially joined the party are Nokia 3, 5, 6, 6(2018), 7, 7 Plus, 8 and 8 Sirocco. This means that all the smartphones sold by HMD are receiving the love of Android One program, and owners of Nokia 1 don't bother as it is already covered by Android Go program by Google, which brings the optimized version of Android and Apps for devices with low memory and relatively less powered chips.

The only Nokia smartphone that was left out is Nokia 2.

HMD Global just pushed a beta build of Android 8.1 for Nokia 3 via its Beta Labs and it is interesting to note that the company skipped Android 7.1.2 and Android 8.0 and jumped directly to 8.1.

The announcement was made by the Nokia's Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, via Twitter in which he requested the users of Nokia 3 to test the beta build so that they can iron out the bugs before stable release.
