Nokia 2.2 - The budget warrior

HMD Global, the company which launches phones under the brand Nokia has launched its newest mobile, the Nokia 2.2 at a press conference in New Delhi. What's the phone about? How does it compete with the likes of Redmi Go and Realme C2? Let's find out!

The Nokia 2.2 is powered by quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 SoC, with a clock speed of 2 GHz. The biggest surprise is that unlike its predecessor Nokia 2.1 and Redmi Go, which support Android Go, this phone features Android 9 Pie and will get an update for Android Q too, which makes it the first phone in this price segment to avail Android Q. And as all Nokia phones, this one too features a dedicated button for Google assistant.

It sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a waterdrop notch. The display is capable of the maximum brightness of 400 nits.

As far as the camera is concerned, the phone features a 13 MP single camera with f/2.2 aperture and single LED flash. The selfie camera is a 5 MP lens. The cameras are AI-powered, which means the phone is capable of taking good low light photos and better images. The phone also comes with Google lens support and face unlock. The battery has a capacity of 3000 mAH and is coupled with a 5W charger.

Price and availability

According to HMD Global, the Nokia 2.2 price in India are as follows:

  • Rs. 7,699 for the 2GB + 16GB version.
  • Rs. 8,699 for the 3GB + 32GB version.

However, as a part of a limited period offer, the Nokia 2.2 will be sold as follows:

  • Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB + 16GB variant
  • Rs. 7,999 for the 3GB + 32GB variant.
