Fossil Sport Smartwatch comes to India!

Fossil's newest smartwatch, the Fossil Sport smartwatch, which was first launched in November last year is now available for the Indian market. What's the watch about and how does it compare with the other smartwatches out there? Let's find out!

Specifications

The Fossil Sport smartwatch is powered by the latest chipset, i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100, which is specifically designed for smartwatches. It comes with a new DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and very low power consuming processor for extended battery life. The chipset is a quad-core 32 bit CPU with 4x ARM Cortex A7 with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, pretty good for a smartwatch.

Coming to the design, the watch comes in 2 cases - 41 mm and 43 mm. The watch is swim-proof up to 50 m, which means you can wear it during a swim or shower. The display is a 1.39-inch circular touchscreen. The top-ring and pushers are made of aluminium while the case is a nylon one. The watch comes in the following Colors - red, black, silver and smokey blue. The main rotatable crown button is sandwiched between two buttons, and their functions can be customised as per the user's need. The watch is very lightweight, due to the aluminium used.

As far as the software is concerned, the smartwatch runs WearOS from Google, which means it has got all the features like quick swipe, support from Google fit and Google assistant. Though, the WearOS not at par with Samsung Tizen used in the Gear series. Looks like Google's still got some improvements to make. It is compatible with iOS 9.3+ and Android 4.4+ (without the Go edition).

Nevertheless, it's good to see WearOS on this one.

The Fossil Sport smartwatch sports a 350 mAH battery, which is a downside as a full charge lasts only a day. But the watch has got Rapid charging, which juices up 80% of the battery in an hour. The watch is to be charged magnetically. I presume that it should make up for the low battery capacity.

The watch has got essential features like battery saving mode, NFC, sensors like Heart Rate, GPS, Altimeter, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Ambient Light, Microphone. In all, it is a complete package with sleek minimalist design, Google's WearOS and a medium capacity battery.

Price and availability

The Fossil Sport smartwatch is available in India for ₹17,995 ($260) and is available for purchase through fossil.in, Fossil retail stores and other partner channels across India.
